Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do."
-Steve Jobs, Apple Inc. co-founder, chairman and CEO
How have you spent your summer?

I'll tell you that I've spent mine with family and friends, but I've never taken my eye off the business ball. I'm excited as we're moving into the final quarter of the year to have the opportunity to continue to develop my brands, make money--and make a difference. You don't have to be a billionaire (although that might be nice) to live a charmed life.
So, if I were to ask you what your plans are to position yourself well as we proceed into Q4 for even greater success for 2018, what would your answer be? What are you doing today, or even right now, to set yourself up for success?
This summer has been fantastic for me from a business perspective. Weekly I've received calls and emails from people who see the work my team, and I do, and they ask me to collaborate or figure out how we can develop win/win partnerships. It's a great feeling to know that the focus and incredibly hard work are being validated, rewarded, recognized and helping so many in the U.S. and even around the world. It's a humbling experience.
All of what my team and I envisioned years ago is bearing fruit because we've driven it relentlessly. We work hard and play hard, and because of it, I get to wake up each morning loving what I do. I'm not going to kid you and tell you that there aren't any challenges or frustrations. Of course, there are. That's what makes it so fun. My team and I look at the obstacles that present themselves as an opportunity to do better. Every day we get up from a night's sleep is a chance to try something new, learn and improve on the work that we left the day before.
Here's another question for you: What does success mean to you?
If you were to open the dictionary, you wouldn't find the definition of achievement to mention the word "business." There's a reason for this. YOU define what success means to you. For me, yes, business is a large part of how I define success, but you want to know what's even more important to me? My family. I care about my family and my grandkids first and foremost, and then my businesses.
What's your definition of success?
Once you have clarity in your mind about what's important to you, you can then prioritize your time. Although it may seem we have an endless supply of days, we don't, and so you have to make choices each day regarding how you're going to spend the precious time you have on this earth.
Then you have just to put the pedal to the metal and crush it. I like to say; you've got to "grip & rip." For a successful life, you've got to have two or three goals you want to achieve and break them down into smaller parts. You should never take your eye off the main aims, and you should come back to them daily. Your milestones may change somewhat as things develop, but your vision should always remain clear.
When you keep chipping away at it, the work will pay off--whatever it is--business or personal. I think Jeff Bezos hit the nail on the head when he said the following:
"What we need to do is always lean into the future; when the world changes around you and when it changes against you - what used to be a tail wind is now a head wind - you have to lean into that and figure out what to do because complaining isn't a strategy."
The difference between success and failure is only a matter of commitment. As the summer rolls to its inevitable close, ask yourself what you're going to do for the remainder of the year to achieve the success you want in business or life. How are you going to close the year out right and position yourself well for 2018 which will be here before you know it? A great place to begin is by defining your success and the most important things in your work and life. Then, it's just a matter of hitting the throttle and giving it all you've got thoughtfully, persistently and consistently.
